Road Secretary: Rich Spooner
I’ve been the club’s Road Secretary since the AGM in 2009 (I think!). My role here is to be the ‘face’ of road racing for the BaHa's, supporting and promoting key local road races – from 5Ks through to marathons – including the South Yorkshire 5 mile road league series in the spring months. Fortunately, tarmac is typically my favourite running surface, and it’s a much “easier sell” than some of the more technical disciplines.
I also arrange our teams for road relay events, including the Damflask Relays in Sheffield – a club favourite for many years – this is something I enjoy most about this role, in trying to assemble well-matched, supportive teams. I’m biased, but I think us
BaHas epitomise the best of the local road running scene – we’re friendly and inclusive yet competitive. I’m always interested in new suggestions for races, so please do contact me if you have any ideas or suggestions for road races that we don’t normally do as a club.
Keep on road running!
