This is an internal club event held each year. It’s normally freezing but hot tea, mulled wine and cakes are waiting for you at the end.
Stairway to Heaven

A classic local race which mixes panoramic views, secret forest tracks and rocky descents. 8.4 miles.
Denby Dash
Part of the BaHa Trail League
5.6 mile (9km) scenic and undulating course on footpaths through fields, woodland, conservation land and the historic Quaker Village at High Flatts with a total ascent of 700ft. The race is suitable for recreational as well as club runners - the route is marshalled and well marked.
Cub Mile
This event is only open to members of Barnsley Harriers.
Now a key part of our Road Rankings competition - returns to Dorothy Hyman Sports Centre, Cudworth at 6.30pm. Mark it in your diaries!
Four glorious laps of the track - with the races run in waves so you're pitted against others of similar ability. All welcome. We may even look at doing other events (mile relays, junior sprints, shorter distances etc.) afterwards if there is the interest/we still have the energy by then. BaHas will have exclusive use of the track for our session.
Each member will have to pay a track use fee of £5.50 (free to BPL members) upon arrival. Look forward to seeing you all there!
Thurlstone Chase

Distance 4.2 mile / 6.75 KM with 500 foot/150m ascent.

Norman Cole Penistone 10K
The Penistone 10K (formerly the Penistone Show 10K) was established over 30 years ago. It is run under UK Athletics rules of competition on roads and the Trans-Pennine Trail (asphalt surface) around Penistone.
From 2022 the race has been named after Norman Cole. Norman was one of the founder members of the club and ran in many races over the years
Midsummer Mad Dash

A challenging 5 mile-ish race through undulating woodlands.
Race starts at 7pm
Entry costs £7 (pay on the night)
Prices for first 3 men and women as well as age categories and spot prizes.
Barnsley Boundary
The Barnsley Boundary Relay Race is a multi-terrain race following the boundary of Barnsley MBC, using the route of the Barnsley Boundary Long Distance Path. It is a race for teams of 10, each running legs on roads, tracks and footpaths of between 4 and 11½ miles: 72 miles in total.
Barnsley Boundary Leg 7 Recce
Meet at Langsett Barn carpark S36 4GY (if the carpark is full the use the lay-by). This is a 6.5 mile route that will be run at a social pace. Please get in touch with Kelly Ford if you’re interested so further arrangements can be made.
Barnsley Boundary Leg 4 Recce
Meet at 6pm at Brewers Fair in Brampton S63 0BH. Please get in touch with Kelly Ford if you’re interested in doing it, so she can work out how many cars are needed. The recce is a 6.4 mile route and will be run at a social pace. All Harriers are welcome.

Furty Furlong
A hilly 3.75 miles (30 furlongs) off-road course in the private grounds of Mapplewell Meadows Farm. Mostly grass with some gravel/shale. Some parts can be muddy at any time.
Bansley Boundary Leg 1 Recce
In readiness for the Barnsley Boundary we’re running a recce of leg one for club members.
Meet at the end of leg one at Bretton Park. There is plenty of parking available on layby at the bottom of Jebb Lane. From there we will drive to the start in a few cars, run the route and then head back to get the cars we left behind. We will be running at a social pace. Barnsley Boundary Leg 5 Recce
In readiness for the Barnsley Boundary we’re doing a recce of leg 5 for club members.
Meet at the finish of the 5 mile route at 6pm. There is plenty of parking available next to the church (postcode S74 0DU). From there we will drive to the start in a few cars, run the route at a social pace, and then drive back to get the cars we left at the start.
