Race Management Secretary: Amie Ledger

Almost 17 years ago I came and stood in the cold to watch Rich run at his first race for the club. Think I pretty much became the “coat n bag lass with a Jack Russell” that day for many years. Not something I get to do much these days mind – less free hands with three of the little monkeys rather than just one! Being a non- runner has not stopped my involvement with the Harriers.

I started at the Shuffle on the finish funnel in that first year of his running career helping a little more each year. For the last 9 years I have sorted the race licences with England Athletics, the last 4 of which have been under the official title as Race Management Sec. You will all see the side of my role where I sit at a laptop on race nights, shout out for marshals to help at our events, beg you to bake cakes and bug you about parkrun times for the leagues.

What you don’t see is the computer-based work involved - Licence Applications, event results processing, marshal plans, league results processing and all the communications which come along with this from members, non-members, EA etc. You may also see me handing out numbers at some of the team events during the year, mainly Damflask relays, South Yorkshire Road Leagues and the relays down at Rother Valley – this doesn’t technically fall under my role as Race Management Sec; more the role of Rich’s better half!
