Grindleford Gallop - 7th Mar 2015

nice warm day for this one but a little breezy on the tops made it a great day for this little jog around Derbyshire.  The race was a set route with some markings with 6 checkpoints. The event itself raises funds for grindleford school. The race start itself it a little busy but soon spreads out on the climb to eyam and the first checkpoint before heading on to the breezy moorland and on to the monsal trail to hassop and the half way point. The second half starts with a tough climb - which I walked- up through bake well golf course and over the tops to a gentle section through the grounds of chatsworth house to baslo!w before the climb back up to froggat edge and the decent back to the finish at grindleford. A nice little run- I had a decent run but spent the last 3 miles dreaming of a cup of tea and packet of crisps and was cursing the FRA for their recommended equipment for the race as the backpack I was carrying it in really rubbed oh and my toe nail fell off- does that make me a real runner now I wonder- am I selling it to anyone even!! Definitely recommended- very friendly- great and challenging route- it was good fun and I LOVED IT
