Club Chair: Shaun Clarkson

I'm 59 years old, married, step dad and grandad. Work wise military service then the police. I started running age 11 at Darton High School, lower department. Never stopped running since but tried show jumping, cycling and biathlon.

First running club Dorothy Hyman, I lasted 3 months moved to Barnsley Road Runners and stayed there for 16 years or so. Co- founder and original member of Harriers.

Previous club secretary for 20 plus years. My running highlights: one of the first runners to complete the Barnsley Boundary in one go, just 72 miles. My fastest marathon 3.10 at Tidworth, half marathon pb 1.17 at Rotherham,on the fells Edale Skyline 2.14.Ambition is to reach 50 years of running so October 2025 and still enjoy club nights.

The role of the Club Chair is wide and varied, but in short provides leadership on all aspects of the club from training to competition, fundraising and social activities. Bringing together the team for regular committee meetings, ensuring the club focus remains strong and the main club goals are reached.
